The Local Voices, Local Choices Act , HF 3276 [[link removed]] , carried by Rep. Cedrick Frazier (Sen. Morrison in the Senate) ensures all Minnesota local jurisdictions (cities, counties, school districts) have the power to adopt RCV for local elections if they choose. Currently, less than 1% of local jurisdictions in Minnesota have the authority to adopt RCV. This is an essential measure to level the playing field for all local jurisdictions so they have the opportunity to experience the cost-saving, higher turnout, and more inclusive election benefits other RCV cities have.
The bill also provides essential standards for local use of RCV, making the implementation process easier, and allows state certification of RCV voting equipment and tabulation systems, allowing for faster election results.
In cities that use RCV, turnout is higher, voters like it, and find it easy to use. It’s time to give all local jurisdictions the power to decide for themselves if ranked choice voting is best for them.
Your presence at the hearing is critical to support RCV and counter its opponents. RSVP now to join us [[link removed]] .
For the hearing, please come early to grab an orange RCV t-shirt and sign – and a good seat! We’ll be there to greet you outside the hearing room.
We are grateful for your continued support as we move this promising legislation forward.
See you there!
