<[link removed]> New Polling Shows Barrett With 7 Point Lead New polling <[link removed]> in the top open congressional seat race in the country, Michigan’s 7th District, shows Republican Tom Barrett leading Democrat Curtis Hertel 44-37%, giving Barrett an early lead in the battleground seat vacated by Democrat Elissa Slotkin, who is running for Senate. The poll showed illegal immigration as the top issue of concern for district voters, a view held by 21% of those surveyed. After voters are presented with positive and negative messages on both candidates, Barrett’s lead increases to 12%. The poll showed former President Donald Trump leading Joe Biden by 5% in the district, and shows Barrett running 5% ahead of the generic ballot, which favors Republicans by 2%.
