We all know it, John: We need federal protections for abortion access and voting rights. We need common sense gun control to protect lives. We need immediate climate action to tackle the global crisis. We need all of that and more, and in order to prevent future obstruction of our priorities, we must eliminate the filibuster.
The filibuster impedes our legislative progress, requiring a supermajority of 60 Senators to pass bills. It is an archaic rule that doesn’t exist in the Constitution and allows just 41 senators to block legislation, giving a minority of senators total power over which bills Congress can pass. The filibuster is entirely undemocratic.
Further, the filibuster has a history of disenfranchising marginalized Americans. It is a Jim Crow tool that has repeatedly been used to undermine the adoption of measures to protect and advance the rights of Black Americans. But with Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema retiring from the Senate, we might have a window next year to get rid of this for good.
If we are going to pass any meaningful legislation for improved ballot access, the climate crisis, gun safety, reproductive rights, or restoring power to the people over big corporations and billionaires, the filibuster has to go. We need to make the Senate hear us.

Integrity First Voter Action Project is dedicated to expanding ballot access and increasing voter participation across the country.
Since the Supreme Court gutted key provisions in the Voting Rights Act, extreme politicians have taken advantage to pass harsh laws that restrict access to the ballot box. These restrictions particularly affect disadvantaged communities and people of color. It’s our goal to bring awareness to these laws wherever they may crop up and organize voters to take action to ensure the right to vote is available to everyone in their states and communities.
