Early resources — especially general operating funds — are essential for pro-democracy organizations to plan confidently, hire and train staff, and start educating and organizing voters. Unfortunately, for many organizations for democracy, their funding comes in too late.

That’s why we’ve joined the All by April campaign. More than 130 philanthropic organizations have committed to prioritize democracy-related charitable funding by April.* Tides’ own Healthy Democracy Fund is committing to granting out 80% of our funds by April 30.

The Tides Healthy Democracy Fund is a partnership between donors, program strategists, and movement leaders working to break down the many barriers inherent in the US political system. The fund includes a network of over 100+ democracy- and election-related grantees.

Tides has the special expertise required to grant funds from 501(c)(3) donor advised funds to support charitable nonpartisan civic engagement programs housed at 501(c)(4) organizations. That means enabling the broadest number of organizers to do the work that’s needed to drive civic engagement.
