Subject Bills should get an up-or-down vote

Gun violence prevention. Voting rights. Federal abortion protections.

Most of the issues that Americans care about, can’t even get an up-or-down in the United States Senate.

And there’s one big reason why: the filibuster. This is a rule that requires 60 Senators to agree before any bill can even come to the floor for an up or down vote.

Here’s what I told voters in Macomb County about this topic:


When popular legislation can’t even get an up-or-down vote on the floor of the Senate and when Senators don’t have to go on record on these important issues, we’ve got a real problem. That’s why I’m loud and proud about reforming the filibuster.

But none of that will matter if Republicans control the Senate.

The path to filibuster reform and a Democratic Senate (not to mention the White House) all run through Michigan. Your contribution today helps us get one step closer to maintaining control of the Senate, reforming the filibuster, and delivering for Michiganders.
