John -
Last month, the Biden Administration paused the approval of all new
liquified natural gas (LNG) export permits, delaying these massive
proposed projects for now.
This climate action by the White House should signal to all financial
institutions that the end of the fossil fuel era is here, but Citibank is
still financing fossil fuel projects, including “carbon bomb” LNG.
Since the Paris Climate Agreement was signed in 2016, Citibank has poured
nearly $9 billion into LNG.^1
By continuing to finance LNG and other fossil fuels, Citi is perpetuating
the destruction of our climate and jeopardizing the health of frontline
communities — like those across the Gulf region who face dangerous LNG
expansion.

LNG has more than 80 times the warming power of carbon dioxide over the
first 20 years after it reaches the atmosphere, further threatening our
health, communities, and planet.^2
As we experience the very real effects of the climate crisis, the cost of
inaction is too high, and Citibank has a choice.
They can prioritize the health and safety of our climate frontline
communities by divesting from LNG and other dirty fossil fuel projects —
or continue to perpetuate displacement, pollution, and physical harm.
That’s why we’re teaming up with partners in our climate movement to urge
Citi to stop financing climate destruction. [ [link removed] ]Sign the petition now to
