Last month, the Biden Administration paused the approval of all new liquified natural gas (LNG) export permits, delaying these massive proposed projects for now.
This climate action by the White House should signal to all financial institutions that the end of the fossil fuel era is here, but Citibank is still financing fossil fuel projects, including “carbon bomb” LNG.
Since the Paris Climate Agreement was signed in 2016, Citibank has poured nearly $9 billion into LNG.1
