(NPR)

Prime Minister Donald Tusk has promised to introduce legislation in Poland’s parliament legalizing same-sex civil unions within his first hundred days in office.

The law is expected to be debated this month. Passage of this legislation would be momentous - just a few years ago, dozens of cities in the country proclaimed themselves to be unwelcoming of LGBTQ people by adopting the label “LGBT-Free Zones.”
