I Make America February Recap

AEM's Advocacy Team has hit the ground running in state capitals across the country and is busy fighting for pro-manufacturing policies. State legislatures are set to focus on a variety of legislative issues -- including several initiatives that will positively impact the equipment manufacturing industry. Read more...

Check out what we've been up to in February below!

[?][?] National workforce solutions: The Bipartisan Workforce Pell Act would expand the Federal Pell Grant Program, a program that awards need-based grants to low-income students. I Make America pushed for supporters to take action in support of this critical bill that would allow for money to be invested into students who are pursuing 8-week educational programs such as welding apprenticeships. Congress is dragging their feet on this critical legislation. Help us get this bill moving by contacting your legislators today!

Supporting Wisconsin dairy: Earlier in the month, I Make America supporters in Wisconsin wrote their legislators asking them to consider drafting legislation that would give money to dairy farmers to invest in precision dairy technology. Did you know that 95% of Wisconsin's dairy farms are family owned?

Indiana's proposed increase in workforce training funds: Indiana lawmakers are considering a bill that would expand workforce training funds. The new measure aims to allow money from certain scholarship programs and grants to be used by high school graduates for training by an approved intermediary employer, or labor organization -- rather than for education costs at a college or university. This means more money could be used for apprenticeships and trade programs, which would be a step in the right direction to solve the manufacturing industry's labor shortage.

"We are part of the 2.3 million jobs in the manufacturing industry. We machine, fabricate, assemble and service innovative parts and equipment toward building safer material handling outomes. We need policies to help us stay competitive and to continue to do research and development for creating even better ideas to introduce into the markets."
