DHS Changes H-1B Registration Process to Give Noncitizens an Equal Chance of Selection [[link removed]]
The Department of Homeland Security’s U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) recently issued a final rule that changes H-1B registration selection and makes other changes related to the registration process.
FACTS YOU SHOULD KNOW
Last week, a federal judge blocked a Texas law [[link removed]] from taking effect that would have given Texas authorities the ability to arrest and deport individuals suspected of entering the U.S. without authorization at the U.S.-Mexico border.
The American Immigration Council fought against Texas’ unconstitutional bill, known as SB 4, as well as two other anti-immigrant bills. We proudly joined 150+ organizations from the TRUST Coalition to strongly oppose SB 4.

President Biden recently granted Deferred Enforcement Departure (DED) status for Palestinian nationals in the United States for 18 months, through August 14, 2025.
Like Temporary Protected Status (TPS), DED has been a lifeline to thousands of individuals already in the United States when problems in a home country make their departure or deportation untenable.
This updated fact sheet from the Council provides an overview of DED and TPS, which countries currently are designated for the statuses, and the benefits of each status.
