Dear John,
Yesterday, I emailed you with some exciting news. Despite numerous court challenges, last week, the City of Harrisburg won our eight year legal battle over our buffer zone law. I'm proud that me and my colleagues on council stood strong to protect access to reproductive care (in case you missed it, you can read more about the buffer zone decision in my forwarded email below.)
Today, I'm writing to remind you why it is so important that we elect proven advocates for women's reproductive rights in a post- Dobbs America. Just as I am a longtime advocate for women's rights, my opponent has a long history opposing reproductive freedom.
The recent news out of Alabama–that embryos produced for IVF are no longer protected–is terrifying. Scott Perry recently sponsored a bill in Congress restricting access to IVF treatments nationwide [[link removed]] . Millions of Americans use IVF as a way to start their families. The government has no business telling these families that they don’t matter and don’t deserve to become parents.
I have spent my career fighting for women’s rights–including their right to make their own healthcare decisions. Every woman in this country has a right to decide if and when they want to start a family. I’m running for Congress to continue this work.
Because of my long history of fighting to protect women’s rights, the National Organization for Women has endorsed my candidacy.
Democrats are only 4 seats away from a majority in the House and our district is a top target. With your help, we can replace Scott Perry and pass legislation that protects a woman's right to choose and make sure all families in our country are recognized and respected.
Join our fight with a contribution of $100, $50, or whatever you can give here. [[link removed]]
With gratitude for your continued support,
- Shamaine

Subject: BREAKING - A Victory for Reproductive Rights

Dear John,
Today, I am writing to share some good news. The City of Harrisburg recently scored a victory for women's reproductive rights, when the buffer zone that Harrisburg City Council established around the city's Planned Parenthood clinic to protect patients and staff from harassment, obstruction, and potential violence was upheld after an eight year legal battle.
As a member of City Council in my third term, I am proud to be a part of this victory for women's rights. We deserve elected leaders who we know will walk the walk, because when those who represent us stand up and fight, we can win!
Can you pitch-in $25, $50, $100, $250 or more to support my campaign so I can continue to fight for our values in Congress? [[link removed]]
Harrisburg is one of only two cities in Pennsylvania to have a buffer zone, and defending our buffer zone in court has been a long process. Harrisburg City Council established the buffer zone in 2012, and we have spent years defending the ordinance. There have been at least three challenges to it. We could have easily quit fighting and given in, but we didn't. We stood up for what we believe in, and we stood up for the many women who depend on Harrisburg's Planned Parenthood clinic for health and reproductive care.
If you believe we need elected leader who will stand-up and fight, even when it's hard, then I need you to support our campaign with a contribution today. Click here to donate now. [[link removed]]
We need leaders who will stand-up and fight, because when we elect those leaders we can win! Last Tuesday eight years of challenges to our buffer zone law came to an end when SCOTUS declined to hear the case (Reilly, Colleen, et al. v. Harrisburg, PA et al). That means the lower court's opinion upholding the constitutionality of our buffer zone stands.
These days, it can be hard to decide which candidates to support. By donating to my campaign today, you are supporting a candidate that you know will fight for us and stand-up for our priorities because that is what I've spent my career doing. Our end of month fundraising deadline is in a few days, and you contribution to our campaign would make a huge difference.
