Dear John,
Yesterday, I emailed you with some exciting news. Despite numerous court challenges, last week, the City of Harrisburg won our eight year legal battle over our buffer zone law. I'm proud that me and my colleagues on council stood strong to protect access to reproductive care (in case you missed it, you can read more about the buffer zone decision in my forwarded email below.)
Today, I'm writing to remind you why it is so important that we elect proven advocates for women's reproductive rights in a post-Dobbs America. Just as I am a longtime advocate for women's rights, my opponent has a long history opposing reproductive freedom.
The recent news out of Alabama–that embryos produced for IVF are no longer protected–is terrifying. Scott Perry recently sponsored a bill in Congress restricting access to IVF treatments nationwide. Millions of Americans use IVF as a way to start their families. The government has no business telling these families that they don’t matter and don’t deserve to become parents.
I have spent my career fighting for women’s rights–including their right to make their own healthcare decisions. Every woman in this country has a right to decide if and when they want to start a family. I’m running for Congress to continue this work.
Because of my long history of fighting to protect women’s rights, the National Organization for Women has endorsed my candidacy.
Democrats are only 4 seats away from a majority in the House and our district is a top target. With your help, we can replace Scott Perry and pass legislation that protects a woman's right to choose and make sure all families in our country are recognized and respected.
Join our fight with a contribution of $100, $50, or whatever you can give here.
With gratitude for your continued support,
- Shamaine
