Garden Waste Collections suspended due to Coronavirus
Garden Waste Collections are suspended until further notice
We are*suspending garden waste* collections that were due to start on Wednesday 1 April 2020*until further notice.*
The Council has taken this decision so it can focus resources on the collection of essential general waste and recycling bins.
Your *household waste and recyclingbincollections* are *still running as normal,* so please continue to put out your green and brown bin grey lid bins on your usual collection days.
Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the council has had a reduction in resource within waste services as well as an increase in the amount of waste and recycling being produced by residents as they spend more time at home.
During these unprecedented times the council is asking all residents*not to place garden waste in the general waste bin, or present bagged garden waste as side waste.* This would take up vital space in vehicles and jeopardise the councils ability to maintain a sustainable waste collection for all households.
Whilst the service is suspended you will be unable to report missed garden waste collections.
What can I do with my garden waste whilst the service is temporarily suspended?
Garden waste materials are not hazardous if left for longer than two weeks.
Whilst these collections are on hold, why not consider home composting as much of your garden waste as possible?Recycle Now [ [link removed] ]provides information on how to create your own home compost.
If you do not have a home composter, simply store garden waste in a neat heap in the corner of your garden, and keep turning it occasionally (weekly) to keep it aerated.
Household Recycling Centres
The Lenton Household Waste and Recycling Centre, on Redfield Rd, is also closed until further notice.
