During these unprecedented times the council is asking all residents not to place garden waste in the general waste bin, or present bagged garden waste as side waste. This would take up vital space in vehicles and jeopardise the council’s ability to maintain a sustainable waste collection for all households.
Whilst the service is suspended you will be unable to report missed garden waste collections.
What can I do with my garden waste whilst the service is temporarily suspended?
Garden waste materials are not hazardous if left for longer than two weeks.
Whilst these collections are on hold, why not consider home composting as much of your garden waste as possible? Recycle Now provides information on how to create your own home compost.
If you do not have a home composter, simply store garden waste in a neat heap in the corner of your garden, and keep turning it occasionally (weekly) to keep it aerated.
Household Recycling Centres
The Lenton Household Waste and Recycling Centre, on Redfield Rd, is also closed until further notice.
