Remembering Nex Benedict
GLAAD joins people across America who are mourning the loss of Nex Benedict (they/them), a 16-year-old indigenous and nonbinary student who died after being beaten at an Oklahoma High School. Our team is in Oklahoma offering support to the local LGBTQ community and ensuring accurate, sensitive coverage in regional and national news.
Laws that target LGBTQ youth - that ban health care, school activities, and bathroom access - make every student unsafe. In times like this, GLAAD's mission is more critical than ever and we are grateful for your support, which makes it possible for us to do our work. We will never back down from this fight.
If you or someone you know is in crisis, dial 988 or contact Rainbow Youth Project directly at (317) 643-4888 for support.

GLAAD responds to anti-trans column in the New York Times
Recently, GLAAD responded to a wildly biased column in the New York Times by noted cisgender heterosexual Pamela Paul, who is renowned for her anti-trans content. As of February 15th, it's been one year since a coalition of 100+ LGBTQ orgs & leaders and over 10,000 GLAAD supporters asked the Times to stop printing biased, inaccurate coverage of trans people, to meet with trans leaders, and to hire trans journalists. If you would like to send a letter to the editor demanding they stop spreading misinformation, sign our petition today.
