Increasing Landlords’ Participation In Affordable Housing

In the February 2024 Housing & Health issue of Health Affairs, Selena Ortiz of Penn State and her team of coauthors summarize findings from a survey of Pittsburgh landlords to determine which strategies might increase landlord participation ([link removed] ) in the city’s Mobility (Location-Based) Voucher program.

The researchers specifically find that using an asset-framing approach which highlights the social, economic, and health benefits of receiving a mobility voucher led to a 21-percentage point increase in landlords’ reporting to be likely or very likely to rent to someone with a voucher.
