    Dear John,

Join us on February 26 for our Journal Club event featuring a closer look at a new Health Affairs research article, “Housing-Sensitive Health Conditions Can Predict Poor Quality Housing,” that was published in our theme issue focusing on housing and health.

Author Daniel Neill of New York University and Health Affairs Senior Editor Laura Tollen will participate in a detailed discussion of the paper’s data, methods, and policy implications.

Increasing Landlords’ Participation In Affordable Housing

In the February 2024 Housing & Health issue of Health Affairs, Selena Ortiz of Penn State and her team of coauthors summarize findings from a survey of Pittsburgh landlords to determine which strategies might increase landlord participation in the city’s Mobility (Location-Based) Voucher program.

The researchers specifically find that using an asset-framing approach which highlights the social, economic, and health benefits of receiving a mobility voucher led to a 21-percentage point increase in landlords’ reporting to be likely or very likely to rent to someone with a voucher.

To learn more about this paper, check out a presentation by author Andrew Fenelon from this month's theme issue briefing.
