THE GREAT BRITISH SPRING CLEAN

AS WE CELEBRATE 70 YEARS!

We're delighted to announce that you can now pledge to take part in the Great British Spring Clean 2024.

The campaign takes place 15 - 31 March and pledging is now open!

Last year, our amazing #LitterHeroes pledged to pick more than 400,000 bags of litter during the Great British Spring Clean - with your support we can make this year's campaign even bigger and better!

Keep Britain Tidy is reaching a landmark birthday in 2024 as it celebrates 70 years since it was founded by an intrepid group of Women’ Institute members. To mark our 70th anniversary, we're asking participants to make a special #PlatinumPledge.

You could bolster your efforts with a fun challenge to:

Pick 70 pieces of litter

Pick 70 bottles or cans

Or, if you're feeling ambitious, pick 70 bags of litter!

LITTER LASTS A LIFETIME

Ahead of the Great British Spring Clean and the charity’s platinum celebrations, the UK’s Vintage Litter Museum in Woodbridge, Suffolk, is raising awareness of just how long litter can last.

The earliest plastic piece in the museum is a small plastic bottle from the Revlon Aquamarine range from around 1954. That's the very year Keep Britain Tidy was founded!

The bottle, which was found on Bawdsey beach, had lingered in the environment long enough to witness the Moon landing, the Live Aid concert, the introduction of the internet, and the reign of a new monarch amongst other major world events!

The museum was set up by Keep Britain Tidy #LitterHeroes Ambassador Jason Alexander.
