Right now, there are zero women representing Maryland in Congress. Only one Black woman has ever represented Maryland. And it’s no secret why: For far too long, women, especially women of color, have been excluded from the “old boys’ club” fundraising network. They didn’t build the system for people like me. Like us.
Even now, my opponents can self-fund their campaigns and call up their wealthy networks to write them a blank check. But I don’t believe that should be the only way to win an election.In fact, I know it’s not.
The odds are stacked against me, but I know we can win by bringing together thousands of grassroots donors who believe in this movement.
