Follow Us on Social President's Message Our work lives have changed dramatically in the past several weeks. We are practicing social distancing. Many of us are trying to work and parent at the same time all day. In these times, it’s very easy to forget about our own health. But, as the old saying goes, you have to put on your own oxygen mask before you can help others. Here are some tips that I would like to share with you. And please watch this video I made for school nurses as well. Take breaks from watching, reading, or listening to news stories, including social media. Hearing about the pandemic repeatedly can be upsetting. Take care of your body. Take deep breaths, stretch, or meditate. Try to eat healthy, well-balanced meals, exercise regularly, get plenty of sleep, and avoid alcohol and drugs. Make time to unwind. Try to do some other activities you enjoy. Connect with others. COLLECTING DATA Emotion Management K-6: Recognize the Significance of Stress on Children This webinar is available in the NASN Learning Center and presents an interdisciplinary approach to managing somatization in our schools. Given the attention of emotional health in children leading to academic success and the importance of attending to the whole child, this program has been developed to increase K-6 students’ abilities to cope with school stress in healthy and effective ways.
