John,

America has an affordable housing problem.

The Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University found that a record half of renters [[link removed]] are now spending more than 30 percent of their income on housing. Although millions of Americans qualify for federal housing subsidies, the lack of funding for the Housing Trust Fund makes meeting the need for affordable housing next to impossible. On top of that, Wall Street is buying up single-family residential homes nationwide, making it harder for families and individuals to buy homes.

We can’t go on like this. Sign if you agree: Housing is a human right. [[link removed]]

Congress must take steps to address the housing crisis. A $445 billion investment in the Housing Trust Fund would allow states to construct over 7 million affordable homes. Additionally, by passing my Stop Wall Street Landlords Act, we can ban private equity firms from obtaining loans backed by the Federal Housing Finance Agency for the purchase of single-family residential homes.

Every American deserves the ability to keep a roof over their head. If we want a strong economy, we need to make housing affordable and give people a chance to build wealth through homeownership. That means investing in the Housing Trust Fund to build millions of affordable homes and putting an end to Wall Street’s real estate grab.

Sign the petition: Tell Congress to invest in affordable housing. [[link removed]]

Thank you for your activism and all that you do.

In solidarity,
Ro
