We’re moving our organizing online! Since we can’t hold in-person general meetings for the time being, we are now going to hold them via Zoom video conferencing. The dates and times will be 1-3pm on the first and third Sundays of the month, as usual.

Our next meeting will be on Sunday, March 29 at 1pm. Register for the Zoom call here! ([link removed][UNIQID]) We’re also planning online happy hours with our experts - stay tuned for more on that!

In the meantime, we’re asking you to stay connected to your MoC’s. Right now things are moving rapidly and fluidly with the coronavirus stimulus bill in the Senate. While all 4 of our MoC’s are committed to passing legislation that helps workers and hospitals, Republicans are still trying to pass a slush fund for corporations. We want to make sure they don’t make any compromises that hurt regular people.

Last we checked, a deal still has not been made, so now’s your chance to make an impact! Call your Senators ([link removed][UNIQID]) to pass a reasonable bill - real relief, not corporate bailouts!

We recommend that you call your MoC’s every day on this issue, maintaining your demands as the situation changes. Make sure they know you’re watching.

Vote in our Steering Committee election!
It’s time to elect a new Steering Committee here at ISF! Vote for your preferred candidates here ([link removed][UNIQID]) .

Have you filled out your Census yet ([link removed][UNIQID]) ?
Census day is April 1st, 2020. You don't need to go outside to do it - complete your census online today! Census counts affect redistricting and the number of Representatives a state has in Congress. The more Representatives a state has, the more, well, representation it has. California is home to almost 10% of America's population. The more representation California has, the better, so don't delay! [link removed][UNIQID]

It’s been a difficult couple weeks, and all signs point to the coronavirus shutdown lasting for a while longer. Here’s what we’ve been up to in that time to help our community.
* Continuing work with MoC’s. We held a video conference meeting with the staff of Senator Feinstein. Senator Feinstein expressed support for our demands for Congress to pass a coronavirus stimulus bill that helps workers and hospitals instead of bailing out corporations. We also discussed our concerns regarding the state of the Census during the shutdown. Read more about our meeting on our blog ([link removed][UNIQID]) .

* Supporting the local businesses we rely on. Our members bought gift cards ([link removed][UNIQID]) for our partner in civic activism, Standard Deviant Brewery. Standard Deviant has hosted our Pints & Postcards events since 2018. It is thanks to their hospitality that we were able to write thousands of letters and help win the House in 2018. The brewery is closed and unable to do business during the ongoing shelter-in-place order. Please join us in supporting them by buying a gift card ([link removed][UNIQID]) for future pints!

* Sewing face masks. Two of our members are currently busy sewing face masks for local hospitals. If you’ve got sewing skills, this is your chance to join us in helping! We are using these patterns ([link removed][UNIQID]) provided by Deaconess Health, a hospital in Evansville, IN that ran a mask drive locally. For more information on how to make face masks, one of our members has compiled a wiki on Noisebridge ([link removed][UNIQID]) for the public to use!

* Keeping track of store hours. Store hours are being adjusted to allow vulnerable community members to shop more safely, and we’re keeping track of the changes! On our website ([link removed][UNIQID]) we have a compilation of grocery and pharmacy store hours in and around San Francisco.

* Compiling trustworthy sources of information. The White House is not the only source of lies about the COVID-19 pandemic. A lot of misinformation is being spread online; in this time of uncertainty it is important to get accurate information. One of our members did extensive research compiling trustworthy resources, and you can see it here ([link removed][UNIQID]) .

And—don’t forget—we still have electoral work to do!

Textbank from home. To turn America around after the devastation that Trump has wrought, we’ll need to win the Senate. Join IndivisiTexting at the Payback Project ([link removed][UNIQID]) to help us flip the Senate. Textbanking is proven to improve turnout and is one of the easiest, fastest ways to reach voters—and you can do it all from the comfort of your home; all you need is an internet connection.

Write letters from home as part of the VoteForward campaign. This is the same service we use at Pints & Postcards to reach voters. Vote Forward volunteers send heartfelt handwritten letters to progressive-leaning unregistered and low-propensity voters encouraging them to participate in our democracy. The letters have been shown to boost turnout significantly. As long as you have a printer, envelopes, and stamps, you can print out letters to voters, write your heartfelt messages, and send them out! To find out more, visit [link removed][UNIQID].

Donate to our postcard writing efforts ([link removed][UNIQID]) —we are spending that money only on paper, postage, and envelopes!
