We’re moving our organizing online! Since we can’t hold in-person general meetings for the time being, we are now going to hold them via Zoom video conferencing. The dates and times will be 1-3pm on the first and third Sundays of the month, as usual.

In the meantime, we’re asking you to stay connected to your MoC’s. Right now things are moving rapidly and fluidly with the coronavirus stimulus bill in the Senate and a new--much better--bill just introduced by Democrats in the House. While all 4 of our MoC’s are committed to passing legislation that helps workers and hospitals, Republicans are still trying to pass a "slush fund" for corporations. A "slush fund" is a giant pool of money that the Trump administration can hand out without oversight, fairness, or transparency, rewarding political supporters and short-changing anyone on a long list of enemies. We want to make sure Congress doesn't make compromises that hurt the public.
Late last night, a deal was struck in the Senate. You still have a chance to make an impact! Call your Senators to pass a reasonable bill - real relief, not corporate bailouts!
We recommend that you call your MoC’s every day on this issue, maintaining your demands as the situation changes. Make sure they know you’re watching.

Census day is April 1st, 2020. You don't need to go outside to do it - complete your census online today! Census counts affect redistricting and the number of Representatives a state has in Congress. The more Representatives a state has, the more, well, representation it has. California is home to almost 10% of America's population. It’s been a difficult couple weeks, and all signs point to the coronavirus shutdown lasting for a while longer. Here’s what we’ve been up to in that time to help our community.
- Continuing work with MoC’s. We held a video conference meeting with the staff of Senator Feinstein. Senator Feinstein expressed support for our demands for Congress to pass a coronavirus stimulus bill that helps workers and hospitals instead of bailing out corporations. We also discussed our concerns regarding the state of the Census during the shutdown. Read more about our meeting on our blog.
- Supporting the local businesses we rely on. Our members bought gift cards for our partner in civic activism, Standard Deviant Brewery. Standard Deviant has hosted our Pints & Postcards events since 2018. It is thanks to their hospitality that we were able to write thousands of letters and help win the House in 2018. The brewery is closed and unable to do business during the ongoing shelter-in-place order. Please join us in supporting them by buying a gift card for future pints!
- Sewing face masks. Two of our members are currently busy sewing face masks for neighbors and some local hospitals. If you’ve got sewing skills, this is your chance to join us in helping! For more information on how to make face masks, please see the wiki on Noisebridge.
- Keeping track of store hours. Store hours are being adjusted to allow vulnerable community members to shop more safely, and we’re keeping track of the changes! On our website we have a compilation of grocery and pharmacy store hours in and around San Francisco.
- Compiling trustworthy sources of information. The White House is not the only source of lies about the COVID-19 pandemic. A lot of misinformation is being spread online; in this time of uncertainty it is important to get accurate information. One of our members did extensive research compiling trustworthy resources, and you can see it here.
