BIDEN AND OUR NATIONAL DEMENTIA Published Monday, February 12, 2024 A note from OCPAC FOUNDATION PRESIDENT BOB LINN National Dementia The dementia of the American President is shocking in part because it reflects the cultural dementia of the American people. When we watch the President stumble and act confused, it is a perfect mental image of the confusion and lack of cultural and spiritual orientation of the American people. This is evident no more clearly than what the nation saw last night in our American professional sports. Watch one of last week's lesser stumbles here. After the events of last week, talk of his removal has assumed a more serious tone. Stepping in would be a woman whose rise to political prominence came, according to the American Spector among others, through the bedroom. Scripture records with great clarity the primary moniker employed by the divine Holy Spirit as He inspired the written rebukes of God’s people. Several years ago, in one of my efforts to demonstrate to my oldest grandson the spiritual acumen of his grandfather, I handed him my Bible and had him turn to Hosea so that I could by memory articulate the thematic center of each of the twelve books which separate Daniel from Matthew. I remember the shocked look on his face when I told him the theme of Hosea was summarized by the word “whore.” He said, “Isn’t that a bad word?” He had never heard his grandfather use a “bad word.” It is a word used repeatedly in the Bible, well over a hundred times in its various forms, to refer to the people of God in a compromised condition. Should the VP become the President, that office would continue reflect the American culture from God’s perspective. A nation which has abandoned its devotion to Christian foundations in a search for meaning apart from transcendent reality. When author George Weigel wrote The Cube and the Cathedral, he likened the threat which is endangering the American people to a tree whose roots had been severed. Such a tree will soon die. Just as a nation who no longer has a conscious connection to its past will wither and die. Xi Van Fleet discussed this point during her trip to Oklahoma last month. It is such a vital point, she also included it in her book, Mao’s America. She noted that compared to the many countries she has travelled in, America is exceptional. However, she is troubled that we have lost the memory of our past. She writes: The sad part is that new arrivals are finding a twenty-first-century America that in many ways has lost its way in terms of its once staunch faith-based spirituality and Christian conviction. Communism’s influential long-arm reach has made tremendous strides in knocking this country off its Christian bearings and damaging the moral compass. She sees the same Communist revolution which defined China’s Cultural Revolution now active in America. The tactic: Destroy all memory of the past. ESPECIALLY THE CHRISTIAN PAST! In Tsarstvo Antikhrista, called one of the most brilliant books on the Communist Revolution, author Dmitri Myerezhkovski commented on the decline of the Russian’s cultural backbone as the central cause of the Bolshevik victory. He quotes Russian writer Vasily Rozanov who said: The deeper reason for all that has happened now has to be found in the fact that in the civilized world vanishing Christianity has created enormous cavities and now everything tumbles down into them. In his book, Leftism, Erik von Kuehnelt-Leddihn speaks of what, in Russia, filled those cavities when he wrote: In the case of Russia it was the small, evil glow of communism that lit up the entire dark void. Just before telling us about the destruction of a nations memory, its statues, and monuments, he states: The road leading to the Hell of leftist radicalism is not only broad, it is also fast and steep. Under such circumstances the brakes rarely work. In his book, The Drama of Atheist Humanism, Cardinal Henri de Lubac writes: Beneath the numerous surface-currents which carry contemporary thought in every direction, it seems possible to detect a deep under-current, an immense drift; the peoples of the West are denying their Christian past and turning away from God. It is antitheism, antichristianism. It is the rejection of God which results in the annihilation of the human person. He then speaks of the great novelist Dostoevsky: Dostoevsky made one profoundly important social truth clear: man cannot organize the world for himself without God; without God he can only organize the world against man. America is in the throes of a Maoist Revolution. In compiling the history of revolutions, Erik von Kuennelt-Leddihn states: Statistically speaking, the natural death of states and nations is not murder but suicide. The Italian intellectual, Augusto Del Noce, states the same in his book, The Crisis of Modernity: Suicide is the philosophical destiny of the revolution. Only we can prevent our own national suicide. Our Governor, our Superintendent of Public Education, our State Treasurer, and a few outspoken Christian conservatives in our legislature are working tirelessly to restore ideological sanity to Oklahoma’s education. They are standing firm against the economic tyranny of ESG and the child abuse inherent in CRT and DEI. We need to stand with them. For a quick review of ESG, CRT, and DEI, see last weeks newsletter here. Or, you may watch the video from last week. See below. On Wednesday, February 28, Charlie Kirk's TPUSA will bring their national leadership to Oklahoma and will be our program at the History Center. TPUSA has a presence on 3,500 high school and college campuses nationwide. Students are educated about the importance of freedom, free markets, and limited government. Their Oklahoma staff who oversee their work in our institutions of secondary and higher education, including OU & OSU, will also be joining us on the 28th. Join our meetings and help us change Oklahoma as we seek to right the American ship of state. Make plans to come to the Oklahoma History Center in two weeks on Wednesday, February 28 at noon. This Wednesday will be a meeting of OCPAC Action at the Advance Center for Free Enterprize 415 NE 13th Street, OKC, OK Wednesday, February 14 at 11:30.
