With only 16 out of Gaza’s 36 hospitals functional right now, pregnant women in Gaza are at high risk.

The ongoing conflict means that women are at a heightened risk of miscarriage. Those who do give birth are often rushed out of overcrowded hospitals to make space for other pregnant women. One hospital shut down after women who had just undergone C-section surgeries were evacuated in the middle of the night.

Closed maternity units force pregnant women to travel dangerous distances just to find maternal health care.

Right now, childbirth can become a death sentence in Gaza — where the health system has essentially collapsed. Will you rush an emergency gift to deliver lifesaving health care to pregnant women, newborns, and those left vulnerable by crises like these? [[link removed]]

UNFPA deeply regrets the end of the humanitarian pause in Gaza. We condemn the violence in Israel, Gaza, and the West Bank, including all sexual violence against women, and echo the UN Secretary-General’s call for a sustained humanitarian ceasefire and for the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages by Hamas.

Thank you for being there for women and girls.
