With only 16 out of Gaza’s 36 hospitals functional right now, pregnant women in Gaza are at high risk.

The ongoing conflict means that women are at a heightened risk of miscarriage. Those who do give birth are often rushed out of overcrowded hospitals to make space for other pregnant women. One hospital shut down after women who had just undergone C-section surgeries were evacuated in the middle of the night.

Closed maternity units force pregnant women to travel dangerous distances just to find maternal health care.

Thanks to your emergency gifts, UNFPA has delivered the following to hospitals and shelters across Gaza:

• 257 Reproductive Health Kits
• 9,586 Hygiene Kits
• 600 Mama Kits for women who gave birth
• 6,480 Menstrual Hygiene Management kits
• Direct aid for 1,860 women at risk of violence
• 50 community midwives, equipped with midwifery kits

All in all, you’ve helped support 10,000 births in Gaza — over half of the births that have taken place since October 2023 — thanks to your humanitarian gifts.

Needs are growing by the day as more women face danger and aid trickles into Gaza.
