Yesterday afternoon, Congress held a vote over the impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. This was a politically motivated distraction; we have pressing matters at hand that demand our attention and action, and this vote was a waste of time.
Not only are the claims against Sec. Mayorkas unfounded, they failed to identify an impeachable crime the Secretary has committed. Even other House Republicans agree that Sec. Mayorkas does not deserve to be impeached.
It is evident this entire spectacle is nothing more than a partisan charade, driven by political agendas rather than a genuine concern for accountability or the well-being of our nation. We cannot continue on this way.
Instead of wasting time and resources on baseless impeachment efforts, we should be focusing on meaningful legislation that addresses the challenges facing our communities.
