Liz Willen Dear reader,

In the darkest of these shut-in coronavirus days, you can find little glimmers of hope and inspiration. Like the students who say they hate school, but miss it ([link removed]) when they can no longer go. Or the strangers who purchased boxes of diapers for a pregnant community college student ([link removed]) in line at Costco at 3 a.m., or the many volunteers helping stranded students.

These are just a few of the ways we’re covering the coronavirus crisis as it unfolds. You can find all of our reporting on how the pandemic is affecting education here ([link removed]) , including tips and free resources ([link removed]) for families with small children at home, homeschooling strategies ([link removed]) and a comprehensive look at how the virus is disrupting higher education. ([link removed])

How are you coping? We want to hear your tales of struggle, inspiration and survival tips.

------------------------------------------------------------
There’s no playbook for handling the unprecedented coronavirus calamity, but I’m quickly seeing what a big difference offers of help, financial assistance and even phone calls of concern can make. With a little luck, the power of kindness and generosity will be one of the key takeaways of this crisis when it abates, as will newfound appreciation for teachers. (Just ask a parent trying to take the place of educators while working from home.)
