Hello John,

As Energy Democracy activists and advocates, we know that energy is more than a commodity–we see it as central to having safe air to breathe, safe water to drink, and livable housing. We know that low-income, Black, Brown, and Indigenous communities have been hit hardest by the control and extraction of centralized power at the hands of a few. And we affirm that from Puerto Rico to Gaza, our organizing around energy and power are linked to the liberation of real, everyday people all across the globe.
Earlier this week, we welcomed leadership from Turtle Island (United States) and Boriken (Puerto Rico) to talk about the real lines of solidarity that extend from Palestine to our backyards here in the U.S. Find all of the links shared during our conversation as well as speaker bios here ([link removed]) .

“FROM PUERTO RICO TO PALESTINE: REIMAGINING NEW FUTURES”

(Top Left) Natalia Ibrahim-Abufarah Davila shared wisdom to close our session on Monday, January 29th. As a Boricua-Palestina, Natalia offered her story to the audience of identity, colonialism, and reimagined futures in the face of immense power imbalance. She was joined by (clockwise, from top-right) Patrick Bigger of Climate & Community Project, Nora Elmarzouky of Emerald Cities Collaborative and Vivien Sansour of the Palestine Heirloom Seed Library.

It’s time to emphasize solidarity in our movement for energy justice. Together, we’re calling for energy as a human right. That means building ties with folks across the globe to ensure that people across race, class, and geography have access to the energy we need to keep our homes warm in the water, support clean air and water, and power safety through the seasons.

Please keep a look out for upcoming events, and reach out with any conversations you have planned.
Together,
Selena Feliciano
