Once again, progressive Rep. Ilhan Omar is facing racist, xenophobic
attacks from the GOP. Right-wing extremist Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is
planning on introducing a resolution in Congress today to censure Ilhan.

This comes days after Florida Governor and Republican presidential
drop-out Ron DeSantis called for Ilhan to be “expelled, denaturalized and
deported” from the United States.

Why are they rabidly attacking her this week? Republicans are smearing
Ilhan over a mistranslation of a speech she gave in Somali while speaking
about the recent election in a region of Somalia, in which she called for
unity. The GOP are using a faulty translation to falsely claim that Ilhan
proclaimed allegiance to Somalia but not the United States — a flat-out
lie.

These bigoted attacks against Ilhan are nothing new, but with her primary
election coming up in just a few months, it’s critical we have her back.

Right-wing Republicans like MTG continue to waste their time and resources
in Congress attacking their progressive, women of color colleagues, while
leaders like Ilhan and Rashida Tlaib focus on working for the people they
were elected to serve.

Let’s do everything in our power to keep Ilhan in Congress fighting for
justice and bold progressive change for our communities.
