Once again, progressive Rep. Ilhan Omar is facing racist, xenophobic attacks from the GOP. Right-wing extremist Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is planning on introducing a resolution in Congress today to censure Ilhan.

This comes days after Florida Governor and Republican presidential drop-out Ron DeSantis called for Ilhan to be “expelled, denaturalized and deported” from the United States.

Why are they rabidly attacking her this week? Republicans are smearing Ilhan over a mistranslation of a speech she gave in Somali while speaking about the recent election in a region of Somalia, in which she called for unity. The GOP are using a faulty translation to falsely claim that Ilhan proclaimed allegiance to Somalia but not the United States — a flat-out lie.

These bigoted attacks against Ilhan are nothing new, but with her primary election coming up in just a few months, it’s critical we have her back.
