AYD COVID-19 Resource Hub
We’ve rolled out a new section on our website dedicated to giving the most up to date information on resources in Arlington County to help assist people in need due to COVID-19. We’re updating guidelines from the Center for Disease Control, pulling in resources we’re receiving from the county government, and adding in new community service opportunities as we continue to build a coalition for good here in our county. We want this to be your one stop resource to get you through this difficult time.

All AYD In-Person Events Canceled
After further monitoring COVID-19, the Arlington Young Democrats have chosen to cancel all in-person events though the end of April. AYD still working on alternatives such as virtual meetings and other ways to get our members involved while we continue to practice social distancing. Again, the health and safety of all our members and their loved ones is a top priority to us. We apologize for any inconvenience these scheduling adjustments may cause as we are following the news closely to monitor COVID-19. Blue Victory After Dark Event Postponed
After careful diliberation the Arlington Young Democrats have decided to postpone the Blue Victory After Dark event due to the continued threat of COVID-19. We will provide additional information on ticket refunds and further information about the event in the upcoming weeks. Members that bought tickets will be reached out to directly regarding the event as well.

Resolution to Support Service, Gig, Wage, and Health Care Workers in the Face of COVID-19
Though we may be held up in our respective houses, we can still use our collective voices to raise important legislative issues to help other communities in need. Working with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Virginia 512, the Executive Board drafted the attached resolution to call on our elected officials to act to support our service, gig, wage, and health care workers and their families who are most impacted by the economic downturn.
We are calling on the Virginia Democratic Congressional Delegation and Governor Ralph Northam to do the following:

Ensure
paid
sick
leave
for
ALL
workers
in
our
economy
for
at
least
12
weeks
*
Call
a
special
legislative
session
in
Virginia
to
support
workers
during
the
ensuing
economic
turmoil
*
Freeze
evictions
and
utility
shutoffs,
and
urge
landlords
and
utility
companies
to
pause
payments
*
Keep
ICE
out
of
our
hospitals
and
health
centers
during
this
crisis
*
Make
all
relevant
tests
and
treatments
for
the
Coronavirus
free
at
the
point
of
use
*
Work
with
local
non-profits
and/or
businesses
to
ensure
enough
food
banks
are
available
for
those
in
need
*
Ensure
information
regarding
COVID-19,
government
response,
and
resources
is
easily
available
through
an
online
portal
