Je tiens à partager avec vous une préoccupation majeure cette année. 

  

L'année dernière, les néo-démocrates ont vigoureusement défendu un
régime national universel d'assurance-médicaments. Malheureusement, les
libéraux ont été incapables de tenir leurs promesses avec une
proposition qui ne répondait pas aux attentes des Canadiennes et
Canadiens pour un régime à payeur unique. 

  

Et nous savons que Pierre Poilievre et ses conservateurs tenteront de
s’y opposer.  
  

Actuellement, des personnes s'endettent ou renoncent à des médicaments
faute de moyens. Le régime d’assurance-médicaments pour lequel les
néo-démocrates se battent, permettra aux gens d’économiser de l’argent
et de sauver des vies. Nous devons faire les choses correctement.  

  

Aidez-nous à maintenir la pression sur le gouvernement.

Je suis consciente que le coût des médicaments est un enjeu important
pour les gens. L'accès aux médicaments ne devrait pas représenter un
fardeau financier. Nous voulons un programme qui vous permette d’obtenir
vos médicaments d’ordonnance en présentant votre carte
d’assurance-maladie, et non votre carte de crédit.   

  

Le gouvernement a une nouvelle chance de faire bouger les choses cette
année, mais il ne bougera pas seul. Nous devons continuer de montrer que
les Canadiennes et Canadiens veulent ce programme et qu’ils en ont
besoin.

I wanted to take a moment to tell you what’s on my mind for this year. 

 

Last year, New Democrats fought hard to bring legislation for a
universal, national pharmacare program to life. Unfortunately, the
Liberals failed to deliver. The plan proposed to us from them fell short
of the single-payer program we know Canadians need. 

 

And we know that Pierre Poilievre and his Cut-and-Gut Conservatives will
try and stand in the way whenever they get the chance. 

 

People are going into debt or skipping crucial medications because they
just can’t afford the cost of prescription drugs. John, the
pharmacare program New Democrats are fighting for will save money, and
lives. We have to get it right. 

 

Will you sign this petition to help keep the pressure on the government
to deliver a fully universal national pharmacare program?

I know people from coast to coast are struggling with the ongoing
affordability crisis. The medications you need to live a healthy life
shouldn’t be on your list of expenses at the end of the month. New
Democrats want a program that allows you to get your prescription drugs
by showing your health card, not your credit card.  

 

The government has another chance to get this right this year – but we
know that it will be difficult at every turn. That’s why it’s so
important for us to show them that this is a program that Canadians want
and need.
