1) Supreme Court Ruling: If You Want Border Control, You Need To Elect a New President
The Supreme Court decision that Texas can’t control its own border with Mexico is infuriating to many, but as a legal matter, it’s fairly clear from the Constitution that the federal government has supremacy over states when it comes to immigration and border policy. Texans are particularly outraged that the leftists running the Biden admin have done nothing to control illegal immigration. Just the opposite.

They have invited the migrants in and have cut down the fences Texas has installed. It’s almost as if the Democrats want the chaos and mayhem. Even the migrants themselves are victims of Biden’s inhumane policy.

Perhaps worst of all, Biden has even undermined support for a more sane LEGAL immigration system at a time when we need more smart and hard-working immigrants.

What is clear from this Court ruling is that the ONLY solution now is to get rid of this cruel and incompetent president. Love him or hate him, Trump's policies would solve it.

2) Chicago’s School System Is Child Abuse
This is a sad and infuriating headline from the Chicago Tribune last week:

[link removed]
Question: When was the last time a public school in Chicago closed down? If you answered never, you’re very close to the truth.

These two Catholic schools located in middle-class and lower-income neighborhoods and serving mostly minorities are closing not for lack of performance – the students who attend the Catholic schools far outperform the kids warehoused in Chicago public schools. The Archdiocese simply lacks the dollars to stay open even though they spend only about half per student what the Chicago public schools spend – incredibly, nearly $30,000 per child in 2023!

So how are the public schools in Chicago doing with their piles of dollars?

Our friend Jeanne Allen of the Center for Education Reform recently ran the numbers:

Less than ([link removed]) 16% of the Chicago Public School’s 300,000 minority students can read ([link removed]) at grade level ([link removed]) – including only 11% of Black students and 17% of Latino children. Yet in 2021, 100% of CPS teachers were “evaluated as excellent or proficient by an administrator.” ([link removed])

Talk about grade inflation!

In a sane world where the children are the ones who matter, wouldn’t we shut down the public schools that are failing and keep open the schools that are working? If you’re a teachers union member, the answer to that question is a definitive: NO.

3) Will the Democrats Cancel Presidential Debates?
Say what you will about Trump — and we know our readers have many opinions of him — one of his virtues is that he drives the left more and more berserk with each passing day.

Last week Rachel Maddow opened her MSNBC show with an announcement worthy of 1984's Big Brother: The network wouldn’t air Donald Trump’s victory speech after the Iowa caucuses. She told her viewers:

“There is a cost to us, as a news organization, of knowingly broadcasting untrue things….So, his remarks, tonight, will not air here live. We will monitor them and let you know about any news that he makes.”

[link removed]
Now this: Jill Lawrence, a former managing editor of National Journal and reporter for the AP and USA Today, has called for canceling the three general election debates if Trump is the GOP nominee.

[link removed]
“Who would benefit from a Trump–Biden debate rematch, besides Trump?” sneered Lawrence. Others in the Democrat Party are echoing this sentiment. If Trump’s such a tyrant and nutcase, you’d think they’d want Americans to hear his message.

And to think these people masquerade as supporters of the First Amendment.

4) Gallup Poll – Two-Thirds of Voters Support Supreme Court Rollback on Race Preferences
We know that the term “colorblind” is now somehow "racist", but Americans strongly favor a post-racial and colorblind society.

Evidence comes from a new Gallup Center survey that found that 68% of Americans say the Supreme Court’s 2023 ruling to end the use of race and ethnicity in university admissions is “mostly a good thing.”

The racial breakdown on the question found that 68% of Hispanics and 63% of Asians (the principal victims of racial preferences) agreed, and even nearly half of blacks agreed.

Regular readers know that we believe one of the best ways to end discrimination is a law that prohibits the federal government from asking what race or ethnicity an applicant is.

5) Quote of the Day: “Right-wing media is taking over”
Believe it or not, many progressives sincerely believe that liberals aren’t getting their message out because the media is too conservative!

Take this screed from Michael Tomasky, the editor of the once-prestigious New Republic magazine:

The right-wing media is taking over across the country. This is a crisis on which liberals aren’t nearly as focused as they should be. For 30 years, I’ve been watching the right-wing media grow and grow. And it’s still expanding, at a feverish pace. The people behind this effort are not going to stop until they’ve taken over.

It’s quite plausible that 15 years from now, the only non-right-wing media of note in this country will be The New York Times, National Public Radio, and a couple of the legacy networks, which will be shells of their former selves. (Yes, The Washington Post could easily be gobbled up)….

So that’s one big difference between the mainstream media and the right-wing media: The moguls of right-wing media are not out simply to cover the news. They, and the editors and reporters they hire, are out to change what even counts as news because they want to remake society along illiberal, Orbánesque lines.

Here’s another difference. The right-wing media are far more relentless on the attack. One little whiff of blood, and they’re like sharks to a hobbled seal.

In psychology, this is a classic case of what is called “ projection” – ascribing undesirable feelings or emotions onto someone else, rather than admitting to or dealing with the unwanted feelings of oneself.
