3) Will the Democrats Cancel Presidential Debates?
Say what you will about Trump — and we know our readers have many opinions of him — one of his virtues is that he drives the left more and more berserk with each passing day.
Last week Rachel Maddow opened her MSNBC show with an announcement worthy of 1984's Big Brother: The network wouldn’t air Donald Trump’s victory speech after the Iowa caucuses. She told her viewers:
“There is a cost to us, as a news organization, of knowingly broadcasting untrue things….So, his remarks, tonight, will not air here live. We will monitor them and let you know about any news that he makes.”
Now this: Jill Lawrence, a former managing editor of National Journal and reporter for the AP and USA Today, has called for canceling the three general election debates if Trump is the GOP nominee.
“Who would benefit from a Trump–Biden debate rematch, besides Trump?” sneered Lawrence. Others in the Democrat Party are echoing this sentiment. If Trump’s such a tyrant and nutcase, you’d think they’d want Americans to hear his message.
And to think these people masquerade as supporters of the First Amendment.

4) Gallup Poll – Two-Thirds of Voters Support Supreme Court Rollback on Race Preferences
We know that the term “colorblind” is now somehow "racist", but Americans strongly favor a post-racial and colorblind society.
Evidence comes from a new Gallup Center survey that found that 68% of Americans say the Supreme Court’s 2023 ruling to end the use of race and ethnicity in university admissions is “mostly a good thing.”
The racial breakdown on the question found that 68% of Hispanics and 63% of Asians (the principal victims of racial preferences) agreed, and even nearly half of blacks agreed.
Regular readers know that we believe one of the best ways to end discrimination is a law that prohibits the federal government from asking what race or ethnicity an applicant is.

5) Quote of the Day: “Right-wing media is taking over”
Believe it or not, many progressives sincerely believe that liberals aren’t getting their message out because the media is too conservative!
Take this screed from Michael Tomasky, the editor of the once-prestigious New Republic magazine:
The right-wing media is taking over across the country. This is a crisis on which liberals aren’t nearly as focused as they should be. For 30 years, I’ve been watching the right-wing media grow and grow. And it’s still expanding, at a feverish pace. The people behind this effort are not going to stop until they’ve taken over.
It’s quite plausible that 15 years from now, the only non-right-wing media of note in this country will be The New York Times, National Public Radio, and a couple of the legacy networks, which will be shells of their former selves. (Yes, The Washington Post could easily be gobbled up)….
So that’s one big difference between the mainstream media and the right-wing media: The moguls of right-wing media are not out simply to cover the news. They, and the editors and reporters they hire, are out to change what even counts as news because they want to remake society along illiberal, Orbánesque lines.
Here’s another difference. The right-wing media are far more relentless on the attack. One little whiff of blood, and they’re like sharks to a hobbled seal.
In psychology, this is a classic case of what is called “ projection” – ascribing undesirable feelings or emotions onto someone else, rather than admitting to or dealing with the unwanted feelings of oneself.
