Team --

51 years ago today, the Supreme Court recognized our constitutional right to an abortion. In that decision, the Court confirmed that every one of us should have the freedom to decide if and when we want to have a family.

It wasn’t perfect -- anti-abortion extremists immediately started finding loopholes and legislating who could access abortion, where they could find care, and how long they had to do so -- but it laid the groundwork for a future where access would be the rule, and not the exception.

Today, on what should be Roe v. Wade’s 51st anniversary, we’re fighting injustices like these:

"Nurses worried ‘aiding and abetting’ abortions refused morning-after contraception to rape victims" - The New York Times

“We’ve cared for people with life-threatening pregnancies whose doctors in states with abortion bans feared that providing standard medical care would land them in jail.” - Detroit Free Press

"25 year-old woman denied abortion after doctors found fatal fetal abnormalities and severely high blood pressure and high liver enzymes" - ABC 13

"Virginia woman says her doctor stopped prescribing a medication she uses for symptoms of lupus in the wake of the Supreme Court's decision on abortion access." - Fox 5 Washington

“They suggested I should simply carry the fetus to term and watch it die a slow, painful death before burying it in a child-sized coffin.” - The Huffington Post

Despite the clear message from young Americans across the country -- that we’re ready and willing to defend abortion access -- anti-abortion extremists aren’t backing down. If they get their way, abortion will be banned all over the country.

Not on our watch.

We have our work cut out for us to build the future we want. But we’re not about to give up on protecting abortion access nationwide. If you’re with us, call on Congress right now to enshrine protections for abortion access into law: [link removed]
