51 years ago today, the Supreme Court recognized our constitutional right to an abortion. In that decision, the Court confirmed that every one of us should have the freedom to decide if and when we want to have a family.

It wasn’t perfect — anti-abortion extremists immediately started finding loopholes and legislating who could access abortion, where they could find care, and how long they had to do so — but it laid the groundwork for a future where access would be the rule, and not the exception.

Today, on what should be Roe v. Wade’s 51st anniversary, we’re fighting injustices like these:

Despite the clear message from young Americans across the country — that we’re ready and willing to defend abortion access — anti-abortion extremists aren’t backing down. If they get their way, abortion will be banned all over the country.
