We’re kicking off 2024 with exciting announcements about new program offerings, new hires and other updates for our community. Most importantly, we’ll soon be celebrating four years of service to the people of New York City. Let’s take a quick trip down memory lane to recognize all we’ve accomplished together!

Estamos comenzando el 2024 con emocionantes anuncios sobre nuevos programas, nuevas incorporaciones al equipo y otras actualizaciones para nuestra comunidad. Lo más importante es que pronto celebraremos cuatro años de servicio a la gente de la ciudad de Nueva York. ¡Hagamos un breve recorrido al pasado para reconocer todo lo que hemos logrado juntos! 

Since our founding, Oyate Group has helped over 40,000 people from The Bronx get vaccinated against COVID-19, launched the first-ever paid internship program for undocumented students in NYC, removed over 400 guns off the street, given over 20 Bronx college-bound students $140,000 in scholarships, distributed over 5,000 turkeys to families in food deserts, provided small businesses with over $200,000 in grants and more.

Desde nuestra fundación, Oyate Group ha ayudado a más de 40,000 personas del Bronx a vacunarse contra el COVID-19, lanzó el primer programa de pasantías pagadas para estudiantes indocumentados en la ciudad de Nueva York, retiró más de 400 armas de las calles, otorgó más de $140,000 en becas a más de 20 estudiantes del Bronx que van a la universidad, distribuyó más de 5,000 pavos a familias en desiertos alimentarios, brindó más de $200,000 en subvenciones a pequeñas empresas y más.

Extended our Beyond Rising program to year-round and expanded our network of partners
* Over 80 undocumented high school and college students have been given the indelible experience of participating in a paid internship to date.
* What began as a partnership with Fordham University has blossomed into a network of 10 partners that also include Teachers College at Columbia University, Lehman College, Cambio Labs, The TASC Group and Hostos Community College, among others.

Selected three NYC women entrepreneurs as the inaugural winners of our business accelerator program, Community Capital
* Equity Design ([link removed]) Founder Maurelhena Walles won first place and the grand prize of $50,000.
* Groove Trips ([link removed]) Founder Janelle Cortes secured second place and $25,000.
* Skoop ([link removed]) Founder Clara Grant clinched third place and $10,000.

* Briyant Boakye Frimpong is set to revolutionize our digital community after graduating from Brandeis University.

Jamel Mims as our Lead Facilitator of Design and Technology for Rise Leadership
* Jamel is an artist, creative technologist and educator based in New York City. A Fulbright Scholar who studied hip-hop culture in Beijing, he is also known as the Mandarin language hip-hop artist, MC Tingbudong. His work concerns the historical and contemporary cultural connections between Black America and China, social movements, memory and technology.

* Jamel es un artista, tecnólogo creativo y educador con sede en la ciudad de Nueva York. Becario Fulbright que estudió la cultura del hip-hop en Beijing, también es conocido como el artista de hip-hop en mandarín, MC Tingbudong. Su trabajo se enfoca en las conexiones culturales históricas y contemporáneas entre las personas de raza negra en América y China, movimientos sociales, memoria y tecnología.
