National call, no meeting tonight, sign letter to city council, new COVID-19 response group

Dear SB DSA Community,

A lot has changed recently since we fought and won California for Bernie Sanders. We hope everyone is taking the steps they can to keep themselves and others safe during the pandemic. We'll be in touch more now that we won't be able to do much in-person organizing. If you haven't already, please see the details below to join our WhatsApp chapter chat. Also, check announcements from DSA frequently about this rapidly evolving crisis. You can view the latest DSA official bulletin here ([link removed]) .

Here are some actions you can take in the short term:
* Join the big national DSA call TONIGHT if you can! Details below. Hopefully, a recording will be made available later.

* Add your name / organization to this coalition-crafted letter to the SB City Council ([link removed]) asking for an eviction and utility moratorium and other vital measures that would help working people NOW. Lots of groups have signed on, they're expected to vote on these issues soon. Many thanks to Joanna K and others who got this moving quickly on Monday.

* Sign this petition crafted by DSA ([link removed]) demanding a comprehensive response to the COVID-19 crisis that prioritizes #PeopleOverProfit.

* Know anyone who wants to organize their workplace in response to COVID-19? They can reach out here for labor organizing support ([link removed]) .

* Join our new COVID-19 response channel in WhatsApp. Follow this link to join (must have WhatsApp installed first). ([link removed]) Note that this channel is open to folks outside of SB DSA.

* We will also start hosting weekly COVID-19 coalition organizing meetings, more to come. The quickest way to get involved is to join the channel.

TONIGHT: No Chapter Meeting - Please join national Mass Call in response to COVID-19

For those who haven't yet seen the announcement, our chapter meeting tonight is canceled to allow folks to socially distance themselves, as recommended by the CDC and health experts.

Instead, we strongly recommend joining the national mass call tonight at 5:30pm PST. You must register at the link here ([link removed]) and you will receive the information to join the call.
