Dear John

These are uncertain, challenging times for us all for sure.

It’s also a time that we should all step up and look after ourselves, our families, friends and neighbours. We need to protect the vulnerable in our community including the elderly as best we can.

I wanted to reach out and let you know that I am closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and keeping up to date with information as it comes at hand so that I can share it with you.

I’m receiving an increasing number of enquiries into the electorate office as people don’t know where else to go to for information.  People are worried and understandably so.

Our seniors, a vulnerable group, are concerned as not all of them have family support.

In the community, people are talking about Kiwisaver losses. Some are ready to buy houses and now there are shortfalls as world markets plummet. The resulting economic uncertainty is causing job losses and businesses are very concerned.

My main priority at the moment is the health and safety of our people, our community and to ensure you feel protected and supported. It is important that we protect ourselves too.

Here are some of the most frequent queries received and links to responses for the most common questions being asked.

Q – How can I best protect myself?

Our grandfathers and their grandfathers were called up to protect our country during challenging times. Today we are called upon to take extra precautions with physical contact.

It sounds simple, but proper handwashing with soap is one of the best defences.

Stay safe, stay healthy and look out for each other. All of us can make a difference.

We can get through this together and I am here to support you.
