These priorities focus on recognizing the critical role of school nurses in providing students access to quality health care, enabling every public school to have a full-time registered nurse on staff so that children are safe, healthy, and ready to learn, and increasing partnerships between school districts and colleges to train and certify various Specialized Instruction Support Personnel programs (SISPs) to better serve rural and lower-income school districts. Advocacy is an essential part of our work as school nurses. NASN offers advocacy tools to help you use your voice to advocate for our students and promote school nursing as a whole through systems-level changes. We must speak up and speak out to maintain the momentum we have gained. Kate King, DNP, MS, RN, LSN NASN President Better Health.
