Antigovernment groups are part of the antidemocratic hard right
movement trending in the United States.

friend,

Although antigovernment extremist groups have declined in number over
the last decade, the spread of disinformation and harmful propaganda
stemming from their ideology has not, particularly during the COVID-19
era.

The team of analysts and investigators in the SPLC's
Intelligence Project works to expose these groups to the public, the
media and policymakers and to counter a far-right agenda that poses a
serious threat to our rights and the future of our democracy.

This work is possible only because of the support of people like you
- people who believe that hate, inequity and extremist violence
must be eradicated in our country, who believe that preserving our
democracy and our most fundamental ideals is of paramount importance.

Along with far right politicians, antigovernment extremists
capitalized on the COVID-19 pandemic by portraying government action
as overreaching. These sentiments, paired with false conspiracy
theories such as Trump's lies about a fraudulent election,
helped inspire the deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol.

We're deeply alarmed about the impact of far-right
disinformation, which is why in 2024 we will be working diligently to
push our lawmakers to hold social media companies accountable for
their role in enabling the proliferation of extremist ideologies that
harm people of color, LGBTQ+ people, children and teachers, immigrants
and others.

Working in tandem with you empowers us to do all we can to counter
this antidemocratic movement. Can we count on your support in this
fight? Your contribution will be doubled if made before our deadline
tomorrow.
