NOW Hear This
December 29, 2023
Message from National NOW President Christian F. Nunes
Greetings Feminists,
As we say goodbye to 2023 and look ahead to 2024, I am so proud of all that we have accomplished this year. From advocating for our rights on Capitol Hill to closely monitoring key races nationwide, NOW’s commitment to standing for reproductive rights and justice has remained steadfast.
Next year’s elections will undoubtedly serve as a battleground for women’s rights and liberties as it is the first presidential election since the Dobbs decision. As we saw on November 7 in Ohio, Kentucky, and Virginia, we hold the power to secure electoral wins for our freedom and autonomy.
Throughout the decades, NOW has mobilized to ensure our country stands on the side of justice. We will be at the polls to defend reproductive rights, bodily autonomy, gender equality, racial justice, and democracy itself. We will not stand by, but we will stand together. After all, our future starts NOW.
In solidarity,
Christian

NOW in the News
• As 2023 comes to a close, we are reflecting on how far we’ve come in the fight for reproductive justice, and how far we still have to go to achieve a freer future in which every person has access to the health care they need. On this week’s episode of Feminism NOW, Christian F. Nunes speaks with two fierce advocates in the ongoing movement for reproductive rights. Nancy Davis is an activist and leader whose personal experience of being denied an abortion in Louisiana inspired her to create the Nancy Davis Foundation [ [link removed] ] to support individuals who face barriers to accessing the reproductive healthcare and resources they deserve. Nancy talks about the power of personal stories in transforming policy and shares what reproductive freedom looks like to her. Alexis McGill Johnson is president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Action Fund and Planned Parenthood Federation of America [ [link removed] ] . Alexis discusses how Planned Parenthood is working to “build Roe back better” and to create lasting infrastructure to support reproductive health care across the nation, especially in states where abortion access is restricted or banned. In an empowering conversation, Nancy and Alexis remind listeners how important it is to keep reproductive rights at the forefront of conversations about justice and equity as we move into a new year.
