Hey, Katie Porter here.
Elizabeth let me know I could reach out, because with the way things are
looking in the California Senate primary right now, this is a
make-or-break moment for my time in office.

California’s unique jungle primary system means the top two vote-getters,
regardless of party, advance to the general. Two recent polls show me in
third place — trailing two points behind Republican celebrity Steve
Garvey.

I’m still very much in this race to win it — because I believe that
working people in California and across the country deserve a Senator who
will stand up to powerful corporations and fight for affordable housing, a
Green New Deal, and Medicare for All.

[ [link removed] ]The silver lining of this situation is that nearly 30% of voters are
undecided about who they’ll support in this race. But I need your support
ASAP to raise as much as we can before our end-of-quarter deadline on
Sunday so we can reach these undecided or swayable voters in time for our
March primary. Can you please chip in right now to make sure I can keep
fighting in office?

Like you, I’m a big fan of Elizabeth Warren.

You see, not only have we worked together in Washington, but she was my
law professor two decades ago. Since then, we’ve stayed in touch and
Elizabeth has been a mentor to me throughout my career — both as a
consumer protection advocate and in Congress. I even named my daughter,
Betsy, after her.

She and I have plans to work together in the Senate to hold rich special
interests accountable and make our government work for working families.

But my public fundraising report from this quarter is going to be one of
the last opportunities to demonstrate the strength of this campaign before
the primary in March. I’m running against opponents who have lobbyist
checks contributing to their fundraising numbers — so I rely on grassroots
donations from emails like these to publish a strong report and prove that
we’re still competitive.

Additionally, in early January, we have to make some really important
spending decisions for our advertising. If we don’t reach our quarterly
goal, we’ll be forced to make steep cuts and not be able to reach those
undecided voters.

So this is all to say, this is truly a make-or-break moment for
me. I’ve always been able
to count on my Professor Warren for support, and I hope I can count on you
too. I have plans to keep fighting for families by her side in the Senate,
but if we fall short now, my time in office is on the line.

[ [link removed] ]Can you please rush a donation now to help me show strength on our
public FEC report, help us reach key voters in California, and prove that
successful campaigns don’t need corporate cash to win?

Thanks a ton,

Katie Porter
