As 2023 draws to a close, please accept my sincere gratitude for your continuing commitment to the Poynter Institute. Your support has been instrumental in fostering public trust in journalism, advancing media literacy, and upholding the standards of ethical journalism.
Because of your support, Poynter’s impact in 2023 has been extraordinary.
• Poynter trained over 44,000 journalists throughout 2023, both virtually and in person.
• Poynter’s PolitiFact hit the ground running, fact-checking the GOP candidates running for office in the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election. PolitiFact fact-checked nearly 1,500 claims in 2023.
• Poynter’s International Fact Checking Network (IFCN) hosted the 10th GlobalFact conference in Seoul, South Korea. There were 506 in-person registrations and over 1,000 online registrants.
• Poynter’s MediaWise program continued to help teenagers discern fact from fiction via the Teen Fact-Checking Network. This initiative is designed to provide fact checks and media literacy to teens via social media videos they’ll want to watch and share with friends.
