Dear Friend,

As this year comes to an end, I wanted to take a moment to thank Earthjustice action takers for your commitment to your values and reflect on how far we’ve come together this year. With your help in contacting stakeholders, sometimes repeatedly on the same issue, we’ve been able to:

- Make crucial progress on cleaning up toxic coal ash dumps previously excluded from safeguards
- Defend the Arctic by stopping the Peregrine oil exploratory project and repeatedly challenging the Willow project
- Protect the red knot shorebirds by safeguarding their food source from bait harvesting on their long migratory flights. for the winter
- Advance protections from the largest source of lead emissions in the country’s air
- Halt a mining threat in Minnesota’s treasured Boundary Waters
- Ensure all lead pipelines delivering drinking water will be replaced within 10 years
- Challenge massive oil and gas lease sales in the Gulf of Mexico

The fight is not over, but it’s important to pause and acknowledge the progress we have made together.

Thank you for speaking up and I hope you will continue to do so. Click here to take all the actions below on one page.

We need to stop this proposed methane gas export project

If approved, the Calcasieu Pass 2 (CP2) facility could pollute up to 20 times the annual carbon emissions of the Willow drilling project in Alaska — equivalent to emissions from more than 42 million gas-powered cars or more than 50 coal-fired power plants. We have an opportunity to tell the federal government to put people over polluters and reject the CP2 project.

Urge the Fish and Wildlife Service to keep grizzly bears protected

Grizzly bears need our help. Due to aggressive hunting and habitat destruction, grizzly bears had been reduced to 2 percent of their former numbers and range. Endangered Species Act protections were implemented, allowing them to rebound in certain areas. But the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is considering removing crucial ESA protections from grizzly bears in portions of the U.S. Urge the Service to retain protections for grizzlies in the lower-48 states until their recovery is assured.

Thank the Biden administration for setting a path forward to restore the Snake River

Three decades after our first lawsuit, there’s finally a real plan for Snake River salmon – one that sets us on a path to breaching four dams on the Lower Snake River. With a visionary plan from Tribes and States and a good-faith commitment from the Biden administration to take steps to support it, Congress now must authorize decommissioning these four dams. Thank the Biden administration for its work and tell your representative and senators to restore a free-flowing Snake River and protect salmon and steelhead.

Thank the Biden administration for finalizing a strong methane rule

Methane is the second largest contributor to the climate crisis, and it is 86 times more potent than carbon dioxide. After years of advocacy – including from supporters like you – the Biden administration finalized a strong methane rule that will cut millions of tons of methane emissions, safeguard public health, and advance environmental justice. Send a message to thank the Biden administration for taking a critical step to cut methane pollution from oil and gas production.
