Intimidating Voters Is Nothing New In Georgia, It's Just Easier Now ([link removed])
By Carol Anderson
Here are some recent updates.
* The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld ([link removed]) a Texas law that effectively prevents electronic voter registration by requiring a pen-on-paper signature. But in a win, the court rejected Texas' argument that private parties can't sue under part of the Civil Rights Act.
* House Democrats asked ([link removed]) Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas to recuse himself from former President Donald Trump’s Washington, D.C. election subversion case.
* The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled ([link removed]) that Mark Meadows' indictment in Fulton County, Georgia will remain in state court. This decision affirms the lower court's ruling, marking the second rejection of Meadows' request to move his case to federal court.
Here’s what to expect coming up.
* Tomorrow there will be a hearing in a federal lawsuit ([link removed]) seeking to block provisions of Mississippi’s new anti-democratic law that create a new court in Jackson — a predominantly Black city — with a judge and two prosecutors who are appointed by white, conservative state officials.

Republicans have decided that they will live with being the party that may go down in history as having successfully attacked American democracy, Marc argues.
