It’s that time of year again.
If your inbox looks anything like mine, it’s starting to fill up with emails
asking you to support organizations you care about.
Like most nonprofits, Public Citizen can’t afford *not* to be part of this
flurry, because so many people understandably save their charitable giving for
the holiday season.
But I’m going to let you in on a secret.
When someone donates during a big fundraising campaign like this, we stop
sending them fundraising emails (at the address they used when donating) for the
remainder of that campaign.
Contribute today and you’ll not only be supporting the critical work you and
Public Citizen are doing together — you’ll also be spared any additional
fundraising emails I might send over the next two weeks.

Now, I recognize that the prospect of a pause on hearing from me may not be the
most compelling of motivations.
So here’s further incentive for anyone who can chip in right now:
A member of Public Citizen’s board has offered to match anything you contribute
today dollar-for-dollar. [[link removed]]

Better still, sign up as a Monthly Donor today and your contribution will be
matched dollar-for-dollar each and every month for one full year!

A reminder: Public Citizen does not accept funding from Big Business or Uncle
Sam. Our independence and integrity simply aren’t for sale.
Everything we do — to fight corporate power, to hold government accountable, to
defend democracy — depends on individual supporters like you chipping in at
moments like this.
Thank you for being part of this shared project called Public Citizen.
And happy holidays.
- Robert Weissman, President of Public Citizen
P.S. If donating today is not a good fit, I understand. I hope you’ll accept
that I need to ask now and again — especially at this time of year — so that we
have the resources to carry out all the essential work you and Public Citizen
are doing together.
