We’re in this together and we will emerge from this crisis stronger than ever

John,

The coronavirus, or COVID-19, situation is rapidly developing. President Trump
has declared a national state of emergency, while Gov. Whitmer has declared a
state of emergency and closed our public schools as the first cases are
confirmed here in Michigan.

We must do all we can to keep each other safe and remain calm. We’re in this
together and we will emerge from this crisis stronger than ever before. Here are
some things you can do to protect yourself and those around you:

* Prepare, but don't panic. Panic tends to lead to the spread of
misinformation. We'll get through this together.

* Know the symptoms. They include a fever, cough or shortness of breath – and
may appear two to 14 days after exposure. If you're worried you're experiencing
symptoms, please contact your primary care provider and make an appointment.

* Stay home if you are sick. Going out could worsen the spread of the virus
and endanger at-risk populations like our seniors.

* Wash your hands regularly. Use soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds
(My four year old son likes to sing “Happy Birthday” to pass the time).

touching your face.

* Cover your mouth and nose with your hand, elbow or a tissue when you cough
or sneeze.

Please remember, while younger, healthier populations are at low risk, they
may carry the virus to high-risk populations. Thank you for doing your part by
taking the necessary steps to stop the spread of coronavirus.

Stay safe and stay healthy,

John James
