[2]National Nurses United

As you may have seen from our email yesterday, we decided to postpone our
in-person Week of Action scheduled for early next month in light of the
COVID-19 pandemic.

While this sets us back, we can’t afford to lose our momentum. Since we
aren’t able to gather signatures in-person for the Patients Over Profits
campaign, we have to rely much more heavily on digital outreach. That’s
where you come in.

[ [link removed] ]We need to reach 50,000 signatures before the end of March. Can you
sign and share our petition calling on elected officials to sign the
Patients Over Profits pledge?

Without in-person events, it will take a HUGE digital push to reach our
goal of 50,000 signatures. The majority of people reading this email won’t
sign on, but if just 1 in 7 people added their name — we’d be halfway to
our goal today.

Why is 50,000 signatures so important? Once we reach this milestone, we’ll
be able to share this number with press to amplify our message and use it
as a point of leverage to pressure Congressmembers, mayors, governors, and
candidates for office to sign the pledge. The more people who sign, the
more credible the pledge becomes.

If you’re just getting caught up on the Patients Over Profits campaign,
here’s a quick overview and explanation why it’s so important that you
join  ↘

THE PROBLEM
For decades, corporate-lobbying groups like the Partnership for America's
Health Care Future (PAHCF) have tried to halt our progress on health care
reform and buy off our politicians with millions of dollars in campaign
contributions and lobbying.

THE SOLUTION
We can force our politicians to choose a side and make the political cost
of accepting their dirty money greater than any campaign contribution.

That's why we've launched the Patients Over Profits Pledge – to call on
our elected officials to reject donations from all health care
corporations affiliated with the Partnership. Being a champion for health
care reform means rejecting dirty money from lobbying groups like the
PAHCF.
WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP
We need to show overwhelming support for this pledge and demand that our
leaders do their jobs and represent the interests of the American people.

[ [link removed] ]Will you please add your name (it takes less than 30 seconds) to our
Patients Over Profits petition to show that voters expect this commitment
from their leaders?

We really appreciate your help keeping this campaign on track and helping
us make this the next litmus test for all of our candidates and
representatives moving forward.
